Built in traditional style, using mostly locally sourced materials, the resort meets the expectation and demand of international clientele.  The special architectural features of resort represent typically Central Bhutanese use of hand-cut river rocks and the sturdy Himalayan Blue Pine posts and beams construction. The essential oils in the natural wood gives room the fragrance of nearby pine forests and imparts the interior of resort with warm, glowing feeling of being amidst nature. Other interesting details include mythical snow lion heads, garudas (a griffin-like being from Himalayan mythology), and a traditional Buddhist stupa at the main entrance.

The best of regional cuisine is available at its restaurant while the bar offers variety of local and international beverages. Ashi, the matriarch of the family, still manages & supervises the kitchen with a light of love, affection, grace and beauty. Hearty buckwheat pancakes slathered with coveted Bumthang honey or wild strawberry jam; dark noodles, heavy with fiber and zero-preservatives, regional red rice,  swiss-variety potatoes famous in the region and the heavenly cheeses of Bumthang are happy jump off points for daily culinary adventures into the flavor profiles of Bhutan’s beloved central region. For those with adventurous palates, the mushroom infused twist on the fiery national dish, Ema Datsi, is accompanied with red rice and jambuley gnocchi. From fresh farm-sourced local cheese, seasonal fruits and vegetables, lean meat and freshwater fish, the lodge offers healthy, hearty and nutritious meals that are sure to please. Also, if lucky, guests may be beneficiary of Ashi’s occasional and much-loved ‘Bumthang Pizza’ made from scratch with the gooey goodness of ripe Gouda with fresh sprigs of cilantro and chili-flakes. 

Backed by an ancient protected cloud forest and fed by crystalline springs historically reserved for Bhutanese royalty, the resort provides elegant accommodation with grace, longstanding tradition and deeply rooted senses of hospitality. It offers, spacious, well-appointed rooms with plush mattresses, high quality linen and the warm ambience of river rock and natural wood panelling. Attached generous bathrooms equipped with wide rain shower and large size bathtub offers relaxing ways to freshen up.

Its multi-purpose hall is ideal place for self-guided yoga or meditation practices. The resort also offers facility of traditional hot stone bath or Doh-Tso, an important part of Bhutanese healing traditions. According to indigenous lore, the combination of smooth river boulders cooked in high heat release healing minerals into the bath which are then enhanced by mug wort and other medicinal herbs – just one of the natural ways guests can unwind after cultural explorations.
