Gangtey Hotels : Six Senses Gangtey
Description
At an elevation of 3,000 meters on the western slopes of the Black Mountains, the glacial Phobjikha valley in Gangtey is a designated conservation area and winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes. The quaint Gangtey village is admired by the 16th century Gangtey Goemba (monastery) which includes a school and quarters for monks, meditation facilities and is home to mind reincarnation of Pema Lingpa, one of the region’s historically important Buddhist treasure discoverers.
Driving southwards through the open valley and traditional farms, guests arrive to the western valley slopes where Six Senses Gangtey is strategically positioned showcasing 180 degree of the enchanting valley. Known as the Traditional Birdwatching Bridge, the lodge is picturesquely located to absorb the nature’s bounty and to admire black-necked cranes, one of the fascinations of the region.
