Trogon Villa is a small, cozy eco-lodge located in the midst of one of the best birding locations not only in Bhutan but of Asia-Pacific region. This 3-star boutique hotel offers a decent accommodation at a wonderful location which is truly bird watcher’s paradise.

The name of establishment is inspired by rare Ward’s Trogon, an extremely elusive bird known to reside in temperate and subtropical forests across the Himalayas, Myanmar and Vietnam. Due to habitat loss and degradation, the Ward’s Trogon has been listed as one of globally endangered birds.

Yongkola, the location of the eco-lodge, is one of the few places in the world where one can catch a glimpse of the Ward’s Trogon unperturbed in its natural habitat. The Location Yongkola, where Trogon Villa is located, lies in between Bumthang and Mongar. It is 142 kilometers away from Jakar (Bumthang) and 56 kilometers away from the town of Mongar. Yongkola has long been recognized as one of the hotspots for birding in Asia.

The eco-lodge provides a picturesque view of the beautiful rolling hills of Yongkola while being conveniently situated next to the highway. Trogon Villa’s strategic location amidst the fertile farmlands also ensures a steady supply of fresh and organic vegetables from local farms.

The lodge feature 12 comfortable spacious rooms (8 twin + 4 double), adequately furnished and equipped with attached bath, running hot & cold water. It has a large patio as well where guests can relax and enjoy all around breath-taking scenery. 

Its restaurant offers limited yet exquisite selection of Continental and Bhutanese cuisine. The Villa also has a fully stocked bar with an assortment of imported and domestically produced liquor. The bar is open for service six times a week, with Tuesday being observed as a ‘dry day’.
